The Fingal Folk Clubs First Night

I’d mentioned the fingal folk club in a previous post. I brought my guitar down to play last night so I didn’t get as much video footage as I wanted… A great night ? An amazing night. All ages. In an old school in Ballyboughal that looked for just one evening like a wine bar [...]

Ballyboughal Pitch and Putt Club

paddys day …?

The pitch and putt club is just about to re open again for the season.

Great fun as it is and I believe it costs €20 [?] for an entire years membership. That is bargain value in any town.

Anyhow….

The first club competition for 2010 is the O’Connor Cup which will be held [...]

Fingal Folk Club

Ronnie Delaney is at it again He owns the pitch and putt club, the carol singers, he plays in morning dew, he fixes jeeps and now he’s set up the Fingal Folk Club.

So what’s it all about…. as far as I can gather it’s very much the family gig. A chance for [...]

Ballyboughal Community Council

Last night the Ballyboughal Community Council met and to my surprise…. there was actually a great attendance.

I went along. Never been there…. but I went along.

Of course Michael Kennedy TD, Clare Daly and even Trevor Sargeant turned up.

So what came up in conversation that may make you sit up straight in your chair….?

The Cnoc [...]

Cheltenham at O'Connors

If you are passing by the only pub in the village you may notice a greater audience in attendance.

The reason for that is the racing session on the year has just kicked off.

Fancy a flutter, an aperitif and a little nibble… pop your head in and say hello.

The lads in there can take your [...]

The Quit Smoking Game…?

Found this over on the Look and Taste Blog….

Seriously addictive…. the game that is. Here’s what Niall had to say:

Thought I would share a little game with you all today that although not strictly to do with food it does come in the health and wellness section and anything that can help you give up [...]

A Gardening Class ...?

….

Over the last weeks I’ve been researching chatting with some friends about gardening and the usual how to bits of outdoor advice.

From those conversations came the suggestion that I should do a crash course of some format in ‘gardening‘.

I did teach horticulture and courses before. But this class request or what one should get [...]

Neighbours Be Aware

….

It seems very recently there has been a bit of a spate of break ins in the community.

Nothing new there in society you might say…. That said, not nice when it happens and not something I even like mentioning here on Ballyboughal.net

The services offered like tarmac [no offence to those reputable in the [...]

Garden Group Tour ***Closed***

***closed***

Unknowns to me, the lovely people of the Final Indo printed a blog article – borrowed from the blog here and over the course of the weekend – half the population of North Dublin either rang or called to my house.

UNFORTUNATELY….I am limited to 18 people. And all places for this tour filled after [...]

A Bite To Eat….

restaurant now open

Last week I was looking for somewhere to go for a bite to eat with ‘her indoors’ as Arthur Daly would have called it. By chance I tried the Seamus Ennis Centre. It was Saturday night and was tipping just after 9pm. They have the gigs on here as usual… but more [...]
