| 2 | Draft Development Plan The draft development plan was discussed and the prospect of the community council making a submission to the draft plan. | Majority of members were in favour of making a submission relating to the lack of parking in the village. A number of proposed areas were considered as potential car parks which included the area beside the church. DC to approach the land owner’s family to establish if the land beside the church might be a suitable option. | Donal Collins |
| 3 | Unfinished Developments DME contacted Fingal County Council in relation to the Cnoc Dubh development. | Fingal Co Co are awaiting direction from Derelict Sites in relation to the unfinished Cnoc Dubh development. The receiver in place for the development is Grant Thornton. The bond in place for the development is currently with Ulster Bank and the development levy is only payable to Fingal Co Co once the houses are completed and sold. | |
| 4 | Tidy Towns RC contacted Fingal County Council regarding litter management policy in the area. | Fingal County Council confirmed that whilst they do bin collections in the village regularly they do not have a policy in place for cleaning litter in the ditches / roadside. Freefone number for collection of illegal dumping is 1800 20 10 93 or local (01) 890 5000. FCC confirmed that they would supply bags for organised clean ups and arrange for collection of these bags afterwards. | |
| 5 | Traffic Management DME contacted Fingal Co Co in relation to the Fingal traffic management policy | There is currently no Road Safety Officer in Fingal but DME spoke to the assistant road safety officer – Susan Jordan. DME requested the policy relating to speed reduction in Rural Villages. Still awaiting reply. DME discussed the possibility of placing speed tiles in the village to assist with speed reduction. The committee decided this was a viable project for 2010 and briefly discussed the prospect of fundraising for this initiative. It was agreed to commence fundraising as quickly as possible due to the recent number of accident in the area. | |
| 6 | Notice Board The community council notice board was discussed and how best to utilise this facility. | It was agreed that the key to the notice board would be kept in the filling station and anybody wishing to place information on the notice board would seek agreement from a community council member beforehand. MOC to place contacts on the notice board and leave key with Caroline in the shop. | Maureen O’Connor |
| 7 | Toxic Waste Dump DME raised the topic of the toxic waste dump which is planned by Murphy Quarries. | Murphy Quarries have fast tracked planning to convert the quarry into hazardous dump. The facility will take all the toxic waste generated in Ireland. DME read a letter from Murphy Quarries stating the goal of this project. Concerns were raised regarding the haul roads to service the dump and the possibility of increased heavy traffic coming through the village. It was suggested that the community council submit a condition of planning that haul routes de-conflict going through the village. Concerns were also raised as to the type of waste being transported to the facility. DME to contact Murphy Quarries to find out waste categories. | Damien McEvoy |
| 8 | AOB LW & CH made a suggestion to invite representatives from the different areas / developments in the area to attend the community council meeting. | It was agreed that certain council members would approach the areas they live in to invite representatives to join the next council meeting. | |
