Mail Bag: Waste Water Treatment Plant – Ballyboughal

Hi there!
just learnt over the weekend that three sites around Ballyboughal have been earmarked as possible sites for the waste water treatment plant which was originally planned for the Donabate/Portrane area. I have spoken to Ballyboughal Community Council who were not aware of this.
Apparently a number of consultations have been organised by Fingal County Council:
October 26 2 til 8pm
November 3 2 til 8pm
November 5 11am til 4pm
Anybody else suprised to hear this? If so, can you spread the word. For anyone who would like to gain further information on this – follow this link for background information http://www.greaterdublindrainage.com
Do people feel we should be concerned about this possibility? If so, does anyone have any suggestions on how we should approach this? Donabate/Portrane fought long and hard to make sure it did not happen in their area. What should we do?

Thanks to Fingal county Council for the following information update….. If you cycle a bike or live in a round tower, you can instead choose to read Ballyboughal’s word cloud

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE R129 FROM THE R132 JUNCTION TO THE NAUL ROAD AT BALLYBOUGHAL

An application has been received from Volkerinfra Ltd for permission to temporarily close part of the R129 from the R132 junction to the Naul Road at Ballyboughal to facilitate ducting remedial works.

It is proposed that the road will be closed between Tuesday 1st November 2011 and Friday 11th November 2011 inclusive.

The main alternative route will be:-
Traffic Traveling West from the junction of the R129/R132 Swords/Balbriggan Road, travel northbound on the R132, junction of the Five Roads, westbound to the junction of the R108, R108 southbound to Ballyboughal

Traffic Travelling East from the junction of the R108/R129 Ballyboughal, travel Northbound on the R108, Eastbound to the junction of the Five Roads, southbound on to the R132 to the junction of the R129.

Local access will be facilitated where possible and extensive diversion and information signage will be in place.

Any person may lodge an objection in writing with the Senior Executive Officer, Operations Unit, Fingal County Council, Grove Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 to arrive no later than 4.30p.m.on Thursday 20th October 2011.

Fingal County Council regrets any inconvenience caused in relation to this matter.

Works At The Bridge

I wonder sometimes, if there will ever be a point when there won’t be any roadworks. I don’t even know what [exactly] they are doing at the bridge…. anyone got specifics ?

There are many bridges in Ballyboughal. This the only one I know with a bench next to it….

Speed Limits ?

The bank holiday weekend[s] have come whilst another is enroute. Quite recently the road safety authority have been talking about speed and the varying limits [etc....] All very good and for the better.

There are stretches of the M1 – motorway that range from 60km per hour upwards…. so here’s a quick one… why is the back lane of the pub an 80km per hour limit ? Just a thought…..

You’ll have to excuse my sense of humour in this. Also the 31 metres maybe not be totally accurate…. other than that, the title says it all.
