O’Connors session is back!

Until recently many folks in the general area would have over to Kettles on a Thursday night for the music session. Some would sit and play while others happily listened and enjoyed the aul banter.

Initially the session started up in O’Connors many many years ago and its was renowned on the music scene as a place of warm welcome where any budding musician could pop along and join in.

When O’Connors closed it got too cold to sit on the wall 🙂 so the session moved to a new home, Kettles. The Thursday night session wrapped up around christmas 08 at Kettles and I’m delighted to say thats its now returned home.

If your free tomorrow evening then pop along to O’Connors for some music and cheer, many a familiar face will be there. I didn’t make it last week but I heard it was well received.

See you Friday!

  1. Hello there folks,

I had the honour to attend the Thursday sessions when I was living in Dublin in the early 90s. During that time I wrote a little piece called ‘The Road to Ballyboughal’ which used to be hanging on the wall behind the bar in the old O’Connors.

Does anybody know where it went? Is it still there?

    Any information is welcome.

    Warm greetings from Germany,

    Joergen

  2. Hi Joergen,

I’m familiar with “The Road to Ballyboughal” have read it many times while in the bar. I’ll find out tonight (at the session) if it is still there. If not would it be possible to send it over to me adrian[at]segala[dot]com and I’ll ask the bar man to put it back in its rightful place.

    All the best,
    Adrian

  3. Hi Joergen,

I mentioned your comment “During that time I wrote a little piece called ‘The Road to Ballyboughal’ which used to be hanging on the wall behind the bar in the old O’Connors.” at the session in O’Connors last Friday.

I was told that song was wrote by member of the Archer family from Ballyboughal.

    Thats what they said!

    All the best,
    Adrian
