Yes you read the title correct…. It seems ROGANSTOWN Hotel & Country Club will be hosting a comedy evening. I nearly fell off my stool when I read it….

Featuring Andrew STANLEY, Damian CLARK, Eleanor TIERNAN & Sharon MANNION with Champagne reception & complimentary entry to The Wright Venue.

Say what you like, but The Swords Comedy Club lads do a really great gig and I’ve seen Stanley and Damian Clark live too many times in too many venues.

Throw in the fact that it’s only €14 a ticket, it’s right on you doorstep and its a 2 and a half hour set. That is pretty damn good value.

I just love the way I get Ballyboughal mentioned by almost everyone I meet… In this case Morgan Jones of Carmody and Jones and The Emergency. Even if it is intended for the garden blog.

Anyhow, the big man plays The Bankers Comedy club in Dublin City Centre this Saturday 17th April at 8pm. Go. See. The man is a legend.

everyone knows him. Not too sure what everyone thinks…. But, Woody Allen regarding stand up, was the Bill HIcks of his generation and somewhere between Spike Milligan. However, eliminating F’s from comedians work leaves very little available. And the rule is if it has one [except for Mr Connolly who can get away with it...] it’s not happening. Anyhow, for those who know him – enjoy; for those who don’t enjoy

it’s monday. it should be a happy one. If it is this *may* make you happier But – for those of us who love comedy… the serious buffs – this guy is possibly steeped in controversy. Possibly. Bill Hicks biographers [i've read 'em all] say – and it’s true – that when at the Montreal Festival Leary stole in full Hicks entire act…. ?! But Dennis got great acclaim for the material. Other controversy… probably one of the hardest comedians to find non-offensive -yet funny- material on – which made my job once again very difficult.

That said – he is a funny guy – and for the MTV generation this one is a real contender for a reeling in the years funniest nomination. Love him or loathe him – he’s now one of the greats. Enjoy

not many may remember steve martin as a stand up act. But quite similar to another oldie the trick was always to be amazing at doing magic – badly. Martin had a slightly different outlook on that to Cooper he just did it his way. I read his autobiography in 4 hours – the guy is that good. For the moment its Monday. You need a little cheering up – enjoy!

Bill Hicks. enough said. If you know his material – you know how funny he really is. My problem with Cheer me up Monday is finding material without the f word. Anyhow this Hicks at his best in my opinion – or – at the best tha I could find. Brilliant. Genius.

Dave Allen *is* one of all time sketch maestros of this century. In my opinion, he probably never actually got the full credit [in the fame/ acclaim sense] that he deserved – but you can be sure that those who sat in [and who had 6 channels - at the time - ah the good oul' days] throughout the late ’70′s and ’80′s will remember the genius that he was; Those who don’t but consider themselves comedy buffs – I know you will appreciate this.

it is difficult to squeeze all of my -all time greats – favourite comedians into just 10 – but, there is no getting away from the fact that this legend is deserved of a place in the *oldie #* hall of fame – ladies and gentlemen – it may well be Monday but this should make you smile – if it doesn’t may I suggest a labotomy If you don’t have time to smile in life… may I suggest a large calculator. In the meantime Tommy Cooper, enjoy:)
