Fingal Vintage Car Show

The Fingal Vintage Car Show will take place this weekend 26th and 27th July Rathmooney in Lusk.

Just go anywhere Lusk direction - it will be very well sign posted. A great family day out, not just for the car enthusiast and well worth the visit. I was there last year [and the year before and the year before....]. Dont forget the picnic!

Stonehaven

stonehaven

I used to live in this town. I lived in The Queens Hotel. I still have very [very] fond memories of the place. I had moved there on my own to work for Aberdeenshire Council. [The harbour webcam click here is worth a view.]

But it was and still is the who make any place what it is. ‘Stonie’ is one for that reason that is quite special to me. I still miss you all dearly and but for the fact that I had to grow up [?!], I would probably never have moved. And if it wasn’t for literally ‘bumping’ into Ronnie ‘Flago’ I’d never have met anyone…

I’d moved there with everything I owned in my car. Drove from Dubln-Belfast-Abeerdeen, where I was to start work on Monday. After a night almost sleeping in my car, it was now Saturday and I had nowhere to live. Nearing lunchtime when everything closed, semi broke [i'd enough-ish] and now walking the streets I met a guy [Ronnie] coming out of a shop that was being refurbished and offered in desperation [after telling my lone journey story] to rent the concrete floors overhead. The floors weren’t his. He did however send me down to ‘Big’ Tom in The . Tom was out. Come back in an hour said the 2 wifeys [!]. I did. An apartment overhead. sorted. One must appreciate the two caravan parks were full… even for tents. This was my only hope. I ended up workng behind the bar for Tom [as well as The Council] most evenings and weekends….

I suppose one might say it’s the fom that place who will remain in my heart.

If you are going on holidays - don’t miss it! It’s not rock and roll, but it is magnificient.

To those of you who remember me [can you ever forget?!] , have a Guinness, have a good laugh and I’m sorry I was so shite at playing pool!

Slán agus beannacht - peter [ps this ones for you, you know who you are]

The Tesla Roadster makes SMART look dumb

There is a new kid on the block packing a whole lot of punch that even your local tree hugger would embrace. It looks the business, its mean, its sporty, in fact its got so much torque they’ve had to design a 3rd generation transmission to keep it under control.

It will stand up and roll over to any competition on Roads, ’s, Aston Martins, BMW, etc and its battery powered, yes think duracell bunny on speed.

Its the Tesla Roadster, wait, get this… its 100% electric, t goes from 0-60 mph (not kilometers) in 4 seconds, it has a faster over taking acceleration speed (between 30-70 mph) than any other production car AND does roughly 135 miles to the gallon, which is less than 2 cents (USD) per mile as Robert Scoble said WOW!

Robert had the pleasure of not just your average , he got to witness the cars true wild side in a against Jason Calacanis in a , see photo of Jason standing behind his below.

The lads go one better by using QIK to stream live video of the event onto the Web.

Check out Jasons QIK video introducing Robert as he goes for a ride in the Tesla

See Roberts fly on the wall QIK video from within the Tesla.

We’re all looking to go more eco friendly on th Emerald Isle, using those oddly coloured wheelie bins but lets be honest Smart Cars just didn’t cut it. They may be practical but man they are . Take a look at the , its a babe in , you’ll turn, you’ll look, you’ll stare, you’ll bite your lip as you run you hand along its lines and wish like a school boy.

The bad news is I’d say the nearest distributor will be UK based (I hope not), and then we have the refueling recharging problem I don’t know of any capable stations in or . I wonder (bit of a fantasy going on here) if it would be possible to charge at , if so that would be awesome and a serious unique selling point.

Robert says on his post Tesla is working on a sedan () model costing around 50, 000 USD which is roughly €34,000. Thats very reasonable when you consider the .

If the government had any brains they could encourage companies to consider these as fleet cars, or go one step further and work with the Irish Taxi Federation to encourage its members to move over from conventional fuels by granting the drivers with the same value tax credit equivalent over a 3 year period.

Check out Roberts original post here, you can almost feel his excitement and buzz!
