Yes you read the title of the post correctly….

Kevin, that would be local bar keep extraordinaire, is hosting Ballyboughal’s first ever turkey and ham prize giving, super dooper darts tournament.

It starts this Friday. 9pm. In O’Connors Pub. Take the door on the right hand side….. and go through to what is now known as the family room. That is where the dart board is. Yes there is a darts board in the pub There’s also a hoops board…. in case you didn’t know. Yes the trad session is also on – on the same night…. [go in the left hand side for that]

Don’t play darts…. you don’t have to….

So let me try and explain the rules….. as simply as I can.

5 people register [for example]
first person throws 62 total score
you score lower than than – you lose a life
four rounds
last round [the 4th] is knockout round.
all monies buy the prizes and stay in the competition
need more information – ask for Kevin
no you dont need a set of darts – just an arm that can move back and forth.

only a fiver...

Oh and by the way…. if you don’t turn up…. ? I might just have to send The Mitchell brothers, Phil and Grant around….. See you here Thursday night first…..

ever wanted to hear a real trad irish music session….

got a song… got a guitar… got a set of spoons and maybe you want to get involved… simply turn up any Friday from about 8.30pm onwards and say hello to the first person you meet….

A two piece band….? Mother of God what is the world coming to…?!!

Yes the boys called Paddy Go Easy will play in the left hand side – the lounge in the pub this Saturday.

Will this be every week…. ? My guess is – if it works out for the lads who run the pub. But… I don’t know to be very honest. One has to give a bulaidh bós to the lads in Connors for making the effort…?

It may not be U2 – but it’s something more than you had there last Saturday…. And if you don’t like that you can also ‘see’ if you can get a game of darts [or hoops] in the snug – that’s if ‘Richard Gere McGill’ will give you a game

I hate them? I don’t even know them. My Father was a blow in. He moved here. My Mother was a blow in. She moved here too. They didn’t tell anyone. Not many people lived here then. Nobody knew they’d moved here. I can drive my vehicle how I like. You can just wait behind me. I own this place. You’ve got a big jeep. I don’t care. Soon you’ll take over the town. Connors pub may return. I hope it doesn’t. I was barred. I got back in though. Blows in are all the same. Ballyboughal. No! Baile bachaille. My baile. My home town. The pub is gone. Move on. Blows in. Blow out. Move on. The lads ran a pub. It was theirs. They can do do what they like. They did. Well done. Move on. It closed. Now I hope it stays that way. I didn’t at first. I hate that shit about will it open. People broke their windows recently. I hate that shit too. I say break theirs. Other pubs closed. Pubs close all the time. People move on. Regeneration. A generation has moved on. The town is bigger now. A town of almost all blow ins. We need a new pub. Not an old one. An old style one. A new tv would do. I hate blow ins. Next.
