Manchester Unitied Soccer School 2

This week saw the second round of Manchester United Soccer camp for 2008. It was hosted at Swords Celtic F.C and ran from Sunday to Tuesday. Kyle and a few of his team mates attended.

At the last camp all the kids were covered in muck form head to toe. Lucky the weather was hot and sunny. Mind you, Kyle did complain about the odd bit of sun burn but, you know there is no telling them to use sun cream (even if you pack it) its uncool. Like us all, they learn the hard way.

All the kids really enjoy themselves, each took on board what the coaches had to say. The set up was brilliant. The coaches added a little bit of a boot camp tone. The result was it ran like clock work without delays.

I heard Paul Darcy invited the coaches to the Over 35′s training session on Monday night which ended in a match against the U14′s – sorry I don;t have the result. If you know please leave a comment.

I managed to get down to capture a few minutes of the last training session, enjoy.

Recently Kyle and a few of his team mates attended a Manchester Untied Soccer Camp on the grounds of Swords Celtic FC. I didn’t get down to see them training everyday as I was away in New York with Paul Walsh on a business trip.

On the last day I did manage to get down for the final hour. By the looks of it the lads had an absolute blast. Covered in muck up to their eye balls is an understatement. As the camp finished the club announced it was in talks with Manchester United to hold more frequent camps, to the kids for what it cost it was worth every penny.

Here is a few photos of the lads who got dragged through the bush backwards. Arron looks like an army commander in a battle zone! Given the pitch conditions, I’m very surprised the coaches managed to stay to clean. The Manchester united team did say all the lads were on their best behavior, maybe the coaches themelves were expecting the odd slide tackle… next time boys!

Swords Celtic vs St. Kevins

Kyle and the boys of Swords Celtic played St. Kevins about 2 weeks ago. It was a great game, which they won 2-0. Over all our team played a blinder even with the strong cross winds and freezing cold against them. Connor played a stormer in goal and Kyle scrored a cracking goal from the half way line (I didnt see it, I was on my usual coffee hunt, pity that). St.Kevins played hard but the didn’t have the legs to get one over our boys.

I didn’t intend on blogging this but while syncing my iphone I noticed some good pics I took of the game. I think one of them captures Jays crunch time where he ended up fracturing his arm, earlier in the game. Both Jay and Lee (or was it Patsy?) made a terriffic ~~break~~ run and Jay sent another one home for the team, scoring only minutes after substitution. Sadly the the ref called it off side, even if it was, it was still a cracking display of team work.
