I used to live in this town. I lived in The Queens Hotel. I still have very [very] fond memories of the place. I had moved there on my own to work for Aberdeenshire Council. [The harbour webcam click here is worth a view.]

But it was and still is the people who make any place what it is. ‘Stonie’ is one for that reason that is quite special to me. I still miss you all dearly and but for the fact that I had to grow up [?!], I would probably never have moved. And if it wasn’t for literally ‘bumping’ into Ronnie ‘Flago’ I’d never have met anyone…

I’d moved there with everything I owned in my car. Drove from Dubln-Belfast-Abeerdeen, Stonehaven where I was to start work on Monday. After a night almost sleeping in my car, it was now Saturday and I had nowhere to live. Nearing lunchtime when everything closed, semi broke [i'd enough-ish] and now walking the streets I met a guy [Ronnie] coming out of a shop that was being refurbished and offered in desperation [after telling my lone journey story] to rent the concrete floors overhead. The floors weren’t his. He did however send me down to ‘Big’ Tom in The Queens Hotel. Tom was out. Come back in an hour said the 2 wifeys [!]. I did. An apartment overhead. sorted. One must appreciate the two caravan parks were full… even for tents. This was my only hope. I ended up workng behind the bar for Tom [as well as The Council] most evenings and weekends….

I suppose one might say it’s the people fom that place who will remain in my heart.

If you are going on holidays – don’t miss it! It’s not rock and roll, but it is magnificient.

To those of you who remember me [can you ever forget?!] , have a Guinness, have a good laugh and I’m sorry I was so shite at playing pool!

I just read donegans post on Budget car in Cork Airport. [read it or the rest means shite to you]. I told you before Donegan. You didn’t listen. Budget my arse. You’d need some budget at that rate. McMahon was right. Who’d go with you anyway. You should have stayed in Connors playing guitar. Good you were on your own. Else you’d end up selling your guitar to pay for the car hire. I don’t like people like that. Oh you want to drive it? that will cost you extra squire. Oh you want to sit in it as well? be gorra – they really stuck it into you.

I know who I’d like to see strapped in to this. Of course there would need a sur-charge and parking and sstrapping in charges and i’d stuff that jet pack right up your mans….
