The Church of the Assumption, Ballyboughal

The inscribed stone high up in the gable reads “THIS TEMPLE was erected to the honour and glory of GOD By the Revd George Canavan P.P. in the year of our Lord 1836”.

The things you never would have known…. 😉

  1. Hello, I’m trying to trace my godmother (Dolores Connolly) who emigrated to the USA in the 1960’s. Her brother-in-law is John Scahill who married her sister (Deirdre Connolly from Baldoyle, Dublin) at Ballyboughall on 11th Feb 1975. Unfortunately, Deirdre died (maybe in the ’80s). Can you help me to contact him (or his daughter) as they may be able to help me to contact Dolores. Any assistance you can give would be greatly appreciated, she was very kind to me as a child and I would like to thank her. (I am a grandmother now !!)
    Kind Regards
    Marie Cato
